Hardscaping & Paving

Permanent hard landscape work is the highest-stakes purchase in the garden. Done right, it lasts twenty years. Done wrong, it cracks, sinks, and costs more to fix than the original job.

What a NeatSpaceCare hardscaping & paving programme covers

  • Patio design and installation — natural stone, porcelain, or block paving specified to the site
  • Pathway construction — connecting areas of the garden with appropriate materials
  • Driveway laying and surfacing in appropriate bound or unbound materials
  • Retaining walls and raised beds — structurally specified and drainage-tested
  • Steps, borders, and level changes built for long-term stability
  • Drainage assessment and installation before any surface is laid
  • Full excavation, sub-base preparation, and compacted base courses
  • Site left clean on completion — all waste removed, surrounding areas reinstated
Hardscaping & Paving in action

Hardscaping & paving tailored to your space

Site assessment before any quote

We inspect ground conditions, drainage, and existing materials before we price the work. This is how we avoid mid-project surprises.

Materials matched to the setting

Natural stone, porcelain, and block paving all perform differently. We recommend materials that will age well in your specific conditions.

Drainage done first

Most paving failures trace back to inadequate drainage. We specify and install the drainage layer before any surface material is laid.

How hardscaping & paving starts

Site Assessment

We visit to inspect ground conditions, drainage, existing surfaces, and access. We measure the area and note anything that affects the method or materials.

Specification and Proposal

We prepare a written proposal with the method, the material options, a fixed price, and an indicative programme.

Preparation and Groundworks

We excavate to the required depth, install the sub-base, and lay the drainage layer. This is the work that makes the difference.

Surface Laying and Completion

The specified material is laid, pointed, and edged. Surroundings are reinstated and all waste is removed.

Questions about hardscaping & paving

How long does a patio installation take?

A typical residential patio (40–80 sq m) takes three to five working days depending on the groundwork required and the material chosen.

What is the difference between natural stone and porcelain paving?

Natural stone ages naturally and varies in texture. Porcelain is uniform and very low-maintenance. Both last decades when correctly installed.

Can you work around existing planting or trees?

Yes — we plan around root zones and service locations as part of the site assessment.

Do I need planning permission for a new patio or driveway?

Rules vary. In Spain, most domestic patio work does not require a permit. We advise based on your location; responsibility for permits rests with the property owner.

How do I maintain natural stone paving?

Brush off debris regularly, resand jointing if it erodes, and reseal every two to three years. We provide a maintenance guide on handover.
