Outdoor Lighting

An outdoor space goes dark at sunset and stays that way. Well-designed lighting changes that — not with stake-lights around a border, but with a scheme that makes the garden readable, safe, and worth being in after dark.

What a NeatSpaceCare outdoor lighting programme covers

  • On-site lighting consultation — identifying key features, circulation routes, and the mood you want
  • Lighting plan with fixture positions, beam angles, and cable routing
  • Fixture selection: energy-efficient LED uplights, path lights, deck lights, and accent spots
  • Supply of specified fixtures from professional-grade suppliers (not consumer retail)
  • Full installation — cabling, transformer, weatherproofed fixings, conduit where required
  • Control system setup: timer, dusk-to-dawn sensor, or smart-home compatible controller
  • System test in conditions — we sign off the scheme at dusk so you can see it working
  • Optional expansion points built into the circuit for future additions
Outdoor Lighting in action

Outdoor lighting tailored to your space

More hours, same space

A garden that is only usable during daylight is losing roughly half its potential. Evening lighting extends the space into the hours when most people actually have time to use it.

LED — lower cost, longer life

Our lighting specifications use LED sources throughout. Running cost is a fraction of halogen equivalents; lifespan is measured in decades. No UV output means no bleaching of foliage.

Designed, not placed

We design around the garden — uplighting significant trees, washing walls to create texture, guiding movement along paths. Lighting is most effective when it is invisible as a fitting.

The difference outdoor makes

After — designed lighting at dusk, space transformed
Before — garden at dusk, unusable, unlit

How outdoor lighting starts

Lighting Consultation

We visit and walk the space to understand what matters to you — the features you want to highlight, the areas you want to use in the evening.

Lighting Plan

We produce a fixture-by-fixture plan with positions, fixture types, and the control arrangement. You confirm the brief and the price before any cables are run.

Installation

Cabling is routed neatly, conduit laid where required, and fittings installed with weatherproofed fixings.

Dusk Sign-off

We commission the system and walk you through it after dark — so you see the scheme working. Adjustments are made on site until the angles and intensities are right.

Questions about outdoor lighting

Do I need mains power to run outdoor lighting?

Most professional-grade outdoor lighting runs from a low-voltage transformer connected to the mains. The cable runs to the transformer are low-voltage and do not require a licensed electrician in most jurisdictions.

How weather-resistant are outdoor fixtures?

We specify fixtures with appropriate IP ratings for the exposure. Ground-level and submerged-adjacent fittings are rated accordingly; path lights and uplights meet IP65 or higher.

Can outdoor lighting be integrated with my smart home?

Yes, if that is part of the brief. We can specify and install a controller that pairs with common smart home systems.

Will the lighting affect my neighbours or cause light pollution?

Design-led outdoor lighting is directed onto your garden — not outward or upward. We aim for zero light trespass beyond the boundary.

Can lighting be added to an existing garden without digging it all up?

Yes — surface conduit, discrete cable management, and wireless control options reduce disruption significantly for a retrofit installation.
