Irrigation Systems
A poorly designed irrigation system wastes water, overwaters in some zones, and underdelivers in others. A correctly specified one runs itself — and your plants and lawn stay healthy through summer without daily attention.
What a NeatSpaceCare irrigation systems programme covers
- Full site survey — soil type, sun exposure, existing planting, and water pressure assessment
- Zone-by-zone design: separate circuits for lawn, borders, and containers
- Drip irrigation to planting beds where appropriate — delivers water directly to roots
- Pop-up sprinklers for lawn areas, sized and spaced to prevent dry spots
- Smart controller or timer with manual override and rain sensor as standard
- Supply and installation of all pipe, fittings, valves, and heads
- System test and calibration before handover
- User walkthrough — how to adjust zones, override, and winterise

Irrigation systems tailored to your space
Water-smart from the start
We design around plant and soil water requirements. Drip delivery cuts water use compared to overhead sprinklers — it goes to the root zone, not the foliage.
Automated and adjustable
Once commissioned, it runs to a schedule you set and adjusts automatically when it rains. You can override it, change zone timings, or shut it down from a controller or phone app.
Lower water bills over time
An inefficient irrigation setup typically uses significantly more water than a correctly zoned system. The installation cost recovers over time in reduced water use.

Drip delivery and rain sensors cut water use. Eco is the core value proposition, not a footnote.

How irrigation systems starts
Site Survey
We assess soil type, sun/shade patterns, current water pressure, and the planting layout. This shapes the zone design.
System Design
We produce a zoned layout with head positions, pipe runs, and controller location. We confirm the specification and fixed price before any work begins.
Installation
Pipe trenches are cut, pipes laid, heads fitted, and the controller installed. We test each zone during installation; the garden is reinstated before we leave.
Commissioning and Handover
We run the full system in front of you, calibrate each zone's timing, and show you how to adjust and override. We leave a written note of zone settings.

Questions about irrigation systems
Do I need irrigation if I live in a cooler, wetter climate?
In climates with reliable summer rainfall, a basic timer system is often enough. In dry-summer climates, a properly zoned system is the difference between plantings that survive and ones that need replacing.
Will installation damage my garden?
We cut pipe trenches as narrowly as possible and reinstate turf and paving on completion. The disruption is similar to a single day of garden work.
What happens to the system in winter?
In frost climates, the system should be winterised — water drained from the pipes before the first hard frost. We provide written instructions and can carry out winterisation as a service visit.
Can you add irrigation to an existing garden?
Yes. Retrofitting is more complex than installing during a garden build, but it is very common. We design pipe runs to avoid root systems.
Do smart controllers save a significant amount of water?
Smart controllers with rain sensors stop the system during and after rainfall, which in wetter months can eliminate a significant proportion of scheduled watering cycles.
